The Bike
The bike is a bit of a Frankenstein machine. I built it up myself, wheels and all. The idea being that I would then have the knowledge and know-how should something go wrong.
It is built from a Marin Palisades frame which I bought for £20 from Ebay. The parts are mainly Shimano Deore (hubs, rear and front mechs, cranks). I’ve pinched the handlebars, front and rear derailluers from my old mountain bike. The wheel rims are built with supposedly bomb-proof Ryde Sputnik. I’ve gone with a Brooks B17 saddle and attached Tubus racks front and rear. All my stuff in stored in Ortleib panniers.
